J.B. Thompson’s hermeneutic analysis proposal is taken up again, which is divided into three categories: socio-historical analysis, formal analysis, and interpretative analysis. This paper focuses on the first one, which comprises: Spatial-temporal scenarios, fields of interaction, social institutions, social structure, and technical means of transmission. Banknotes can be considered as a materialized cultural form, in which internalized symbolic forms are reiterated; also permeated by political, cultural, religious and, of course, gender ideologies. The idealized image of the Porfirian woman was reiterated in the banknotes, so that in the printing the romantic idea of beauty and virtue is perceived, mixed with the romantic and modernist aesthetics that brought with it reiterations of the mythical, the technological and the national. In addition to the above, we can also detect what could be called -from today’s concepts- symbolic violence due to the way in which the image reached the banknotes and the historical invisibility of the female character.</p>}, number={33}, journal={Religación}, author={Castelli Olvera, Azul Kikey}, year={2022}, month={Sep.}, pages={e210938} }
