It was observed in a community in the municipality of Malinaltepec. This ceremony allows showing how despite the lunge of modernity, the sociocultural changes, and the influence of the external processes that break down the communitarian life, the <em>m</em><em>e</em><em>’ph</em><em>aa</em> of la Montaña de Guerrero keep maintaining an intense relationship with the elements of nature and a strict attachment to the rituals and ceremonies that allow them to guarantee their families welfare. <em>Akuun ñee</em> is the temazcal Goddess, the bearer of the hot and cold duality. This Goddess in the Tlapaneca mythology is the one that created the sun, the moon, and the fire. If she is not revered or doesn’t receive an offering, one runs the risk of suffering diseases or family imbalances.
