Proyecto Villa originates as an investigation around detention and torture centers and proposes a “stage installation” in which certain conventions of the traditional scene are challenged to build an experience for the spectator who becomes an observer and participant of a space, as well as of a living memory embodied in the objects disposed. To analyze this play, this article uses some of the ideas proposed by the new materialisms, the theories of affects, a post-human subjectivity, and documentary theater. In the investigation, two of the main strategies of the staging of Proyecto Villa will be observed: the organization of spaces, on the one hand, and, on the other, the collection and arrangement of objects. This text seeks to highlight the mechanisms of fiction put into play when working with documentary materials, while describing these procedures from a proposal of material subjectivity that is elaborated from the previously singled out theoretical postulates, in dialogue with the idea of material imagination.
