Paradoxos do público de pesquisa na África Subsaariana

Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo é analisar os dilemas que os pesquisadores encontram no consumo de conhecimento na comunidade subsaariana. Para isso, foi utilizado como metodologia um estudo de revisão sistemática da literatura. O estudo revelou que, apesar do fato de o público pesquisador e a comunidade subsaariana em geral terem o direito de acessar e conhecer os resultados da pesquisa da qual são receptores, eles raramente acessam trabalhos acadêmicos. Alguns dos desafios examinados neste estudo incluem idioma, alfabetização, financiamento e pobreza, duração da pesquisa, comunicação acadêmica, imperialismo cultural, exclusão digital e publicação predatória. O estudo recomenda que os países subsaarianos mobilizem e levantem mais fundos para modernizar as operações das bibliotecas, impulsionar a infraestrutura de TIC e comercializar a pesquisa africana para melhorar sua visibilidade e consumo pelos públicos-alvo e pela comunidade.

Simon Vurayai, University of Johannesburg | South Africa

Senior postdoctoral research fellow in the Ali Mazrui Centre for Higher Education Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Johannesburg in South Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Education. He taught in the Sociology of Education in the Department of Educational Foundations at Great Zimbabwe University, Zimbabwe. His research interests are, gender studies, social justice, problems in education, sociology of knowledge, sociology of mass media, sociology of development and poverty studies.
