Abstract

Language is constantly evolving, it is a heritage of the history and culture of people; hence, analyzing elements of language that are maintained throughout history is beneficial for understanding the cultural and linguistic diversity of a nation. That is why, in this article, the terminology in the field of defense and engineering that is used in the military and defense system and are the main parts of the lexicology of Uzbek is analyzed. In addition, the formation of these lexemes at that time and their development in the languages of Old Turkic, Old Uzbek, and Modern Uzbek are analyzed based on the materials of historical, encyclopedic, and literary works. The analysis of these names helps us to get some information about the dynasties reigning in Transoxiana and Central Asia between the 7th and 19th centuries. It is concluded that the formation and development of terms denoting the names of defense and engineering structures, which are part of the Uzbek military terminology, is closely connected with various changes in social and political life, as well as with the internal laws of the language.
