Dental inlays: the esthetic and functional solution to improve your smile

Abstract

Dental inlays, also known as intracoronary inlays, represent a widely accepted option in dentistry to improve both the aesthetic appearance and functionality of damaged teeth. These inlays are mainly used in the restoration of teeth with deterioration or cavities, offering a long-lasting solution. and aesthetically pleasing, compared to dental crowns, inlays are considered a more conservative alternative, since they preserve a greater amount of natural dental tissue, which favors the long-term health of the tooth, in terms of the materials used, Inlays can be made with various high-quality materials such as ceramic, porcelain or composite resin, which allows perfect integration with the tone of the adjacent teeth, thus achieving a harmonious aesthetic result. The process of placing inlays usually requires multiple visits. to the dentist to make precise impressions and securely cement the inlays with specialized dental cement. Within this article, the materials to be used presented in Table 1 are detailed, as well as the different types of inlays.
