Burnout Syndrome in health professionals: An Analysis of its Consequences on Work Performance at the Dr. Bolívar Argüello Geriatric Hospital
Abstract
Burnout is a severe form of psychological distress that arises from work-related physical and mental trauma and manifests as a severe loss of energy that cannot be renewed. The overall goal of the research is to determine the impact of burnout syndrome. burnout in the work performance of health professionals at the Dr. Bolívar Argüello Geriatric Hospital to understand how it affects the quality of care provided to geriatric patients. To do this, a mixed approach was used, with a non-experimental design. The study sample corresponded to 45 hospital workers who work in the operational area. Therefore, an exploratory factor analysis was continued for a better understanding of the data. The results indicated that the impact of burnout syndrome on the work performance of health professionals at the Geriatric Hospital was 77%, that is, it is significant, since it directly affects the quality of care provided to the patients who receive it. They require, since, workers who suffer from said syndrome tend to have low levels of empathy.
