Sociofamilial Condition and Quality of Life of Older Adults in Luis Cordero Parish: An Integral Analysis
Abstract
Aging involves biopsychosocial changes influenced by lifestyle, affecting physical, mental, and psychological well-being. This quantitative, descriptive, and correlational study analyzes the relationship between socio-family conditions and quality of life in 107 older adults attending the GAD Parroquial Luis Cordero, Azogues. The Gijón Socio-Family Scale and WHOQOL-BREF were used. Results show high physical or psychological dependence, low economic resources, and housing with architectural barriers. Additionally, a significant portion experiences social isolation and requires healthcare. Quality of life is almost equally divided between the two evaluated criteria, indicating that higher social risk correlates with lower quality of life. The studied group faces high social vulnerability with limited access to resources, highlighting the need for social support to improve their living conditions.
