Abstract

The administration of electrolytes is a crucial procedure in the health sector, indispensable for the purpose of treating various clinical conditions associated with imbalances such as hyponatremia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, hypokalemia and acid-base balance disturbances. To develop a standardized protocol for the safe administration of electrolytes, establishing guidelines based on scientific evidence that optimize dosage, prevent electrolyte imbalances and minimize associated risks, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice in hospitalized patients. This analysis is based on a systematic literature review to analyze the most recent evidence on the safe administration of electrolytes. The research was carried out in five scientific foundations of great relevance, to optimize the results, standardized terms and Boolean operators are used. Strict rules for inclusion and exclusion were established, choosing research published between 2019-2024.  The information was organized in a data matrix, prioritizing the most robust evidence. This approach provided a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the topic. The standardization of procedures improves the reliability in the management of high-risk drugs, mentioning soletrol potassium (K), reducing the incidence of adverse reactions and improving the quality of treatment.
