Abstract
In Cuenca, distributors of spare parts for Chinese motorcycles face high logistics costs resulting from inefficient processes in storage, transportation, and distribution, which lead to additional expenses and a loss of competitiveness. In response to this issue, the research aims to analyze importers’ perceptions of project management in reducing logistics costs for Chinese motorcycle spare parts. A quantitative approach was applied, with a descriptive–explanatory scope, correlational level, and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 20 representative companies from the sector, selected through probabilistic sampling. The results show that the application of project management tools such as schedules, risk matrices, and logistics performance indicators optimizes transportation and storage processes, reducing operating costs by between 15% and 30% and improving delivery efficiency. It is concluded that project management is an effective strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of distributors in Cuenca and that its implementation represents a viable and replicable alternative in other Latin American contexts with similar supply chains.
