Abstract
The social marginalization of the low-income population, victims of gentrification in Mexico City, has created a mixed population (migrant and native-born) oriented towards greater civic participation in the municipality of Zumpango, State of Mexico, part of the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico. This citizenry is more demanding and questioning, as evidenced by indicators of care in the area of physical rehabilitation. A key factor is the new Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), which is currently triggering a series of transformations in this area and has accentuated discontent, primarily motivated by the need for survival. The research was based on interviews with healthcare personnel and surveys of users of a low-quality rehabilitation service that operates with minimal staff and resources. The results are particularly noteworthy in the areas of injuries and physical wear and tear, which together account for 62.5% of those seeking care.
