Guidelines for authors

1. Submission process and peer review

Before submitting a manuscript, you must download three files: editorial guidelines, article template, and author data form.

1.1 Editorial Guidelines

Articles published in Religación are peer-reviewed.  The refereeing process is double-blind, that is, the author does not know the identity of the reviewer and vice versa, so contributors should be careful to remove any obvious indication of authorship. The language of publication is Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

All instructions regarding citations, references, word length, and more information can be found in the following document: English version | Spanish version | Portuguese version

1.2 Article templates

The nature of the article submitted must be original, and unpublished, all articles will be reviewed by CrossRef Similarity Check software, in order to avoid academic plagiarism. Download the template that corresponds to the type of article you made and adapt it to the requested criteria.

1.3 Author data form.

Since the journal uses the double-blind review process, authors should prepare their manuscripts anonymously. The author must send his/her data using the following form: (Download)

Remember that it is mandatory that authors send their ORCID number. If you do not have it, you can create it at https://orcid.org/register

1.4 Article submission.

The author should send the article and the data form to the following email address: publicaciones@religacion.com

In the subject line, you must include the name of the section to which you are submitting (Dossier, General, South-South, or Journal of books).

2. After submitting the article

The article will be reviewed by the editorial team, who will verify if the article has not been previously published and if it conforms to editorial standards and APA7 style. The author will receive a response of acceptance of the article up to 15 days after the article submission.

(Articles are analyzed using iThenticate, with a maximum of 15% similarity allowed).

If the article meets the prerequisites, it will be entered, an account will be created for the author(s) in the system used by the journal (OJS), and a member of the editorial team will upload the article and assign peer reviewers.

The author/s will receive 2 e-mails: the first one with the username and password to access the web page and follow the editorial process of the article.

The second e-mail will be a notification that the article has been entered into the system. In both cases, please check your SPAM folder.

The peer-review process (double-blind) takes approximately 4 to 8 weeks. After having the results, an official and final notification will be sent with 3 scenarios: article accepted, article accepted with modifications, and article rejected.

3. After acceptance

3.1 Final version

Once the article has been accepted and the corrections suggested by the reviewers have been made. The author must submit the final version and start the production phase.

Authors must also ensure that renumbered tables, figures, or references match the citations in the text and that figure legends correspond to the actual citations in the text and figures.
