Expandindo os limites biológicos da degeneração das estruturas temporomandibulares. Revisão da literatura
Resumo
A articulação temporomandibular (ATM) é uma estrutura essencial que permite a abertura e o fechamento da mandíbula, e sua degeneração pode causar dor e disfunção. Esta revisão da literatura começa destacando a importância de compreender todos os mecanismos biológicos subjacentes à degeneração da ATM para desenvolver melhores abordagens de tratamento. O objetivo desta revisão é reunir todas as informações sobre os mecanismos moleculares, fatores hormonais e genéticos envolvidos nas vias de sinalização e interações potencialmente relacionadas aos distúrbios da mandíbula. A literatura foi selecionada por meio de pesquisa em bancos de dados eletrônicos. Foi determinado que, diante de um processo inflamatório e degenerativo da ATM, a presença de várias proteínas, moléculas, hormônios e aumento da expressão gênica está presente em grande volume; no entanto, pesquisas futuras com amostras maiores são necessárias para melhorar a compreensão das abordagens diagnósticas e terapêuticas nesse campo.
