Introdução à literatura inglesa para estudantes árabes
Resumo
Quando um professor prepara uma introdução com esse nome, ele tem de lidar com muitas obras literárias. Ele tem apenas um semestre e um número limitado de horas para cumprir sua missão. O que ele pode fazer? Isso o leva a estabelecer limites e a trabalhar dentro deles. Como sabemos, especificar uma obra para cada gênero literário não significa muito, mas é a única opção ao ensinar alunos não nativos. Tendo percebido as deficiências dos planos prescritos e seus efeitos negativos no ensino de literatura inglesa para alunos não nativos, prefiro apresentar minha experiência e compartilhar minha opinião com meus colegas dessa área. Por isso, baseio-me em minha experiência como pano de fundo para o que apresento neste artigo. Concluo que o foco principal do curso deve ser a cultura do idioma de origem. Ele deve ser oferecido a alunos em um nível que os capacite a discutir, ler e criticar, e não a iniciantes que acham difícil dominar todas essas habilidades literárias. Apresentarei essa questão com base em minha experiência pessoal e a discutirei neste artigo.
