Determinants of intellectual capital as a competitive advantage in the IESS hospital Quito Sur
Abstract
The challenge is to identify and understand the specific elements of intellectual capital that are most important to a hospital's success. The objective of the research lies in Evaluating how intellectual capital contributes as a competitive advantage in the IESS Hospital, for the identification of its main determinants and its impact on hospital management. The use of the mixed approach was chosen, since it combines the quantitative approach to quantify and measure the factors of intellectual capital and its relationship with the indicators of business competitiveness. Descriptive methods will be used, such as calculating the mean and standard deviation. The intentional sampling strategy was used, generating 120 valid responses that were subjected to an exploratory factor analysis. The results suggest that certain aspects of human capital and structural capital are clear and strong determinants of the competitive advantage of IESS hospitals. High stress factors in human capital can refer to the training, experience and capacity of employees, while in structural capital they can refer to the quality of the hospital infrastructure and system. It is concluded that the total explained variance reached 77%, which indicated that the four components captured a large part of the factors that contribute to the hospital's competitive advantage.
