Theoretical approaches to the human talent competencies of the staff working in the clinical laboratory of the Orama González de Durán Maternal and Child Health Center
Abstract
There are several theoretical approaches that can be used to develop the competencies of clinical laboratory staff in a maternal and child health center, depending on the specific objectives and needs of the organization. The objective of the study was to expose the competencies, technical abilities, interpersonal skills and other relevant aspects of the professional profile of the human talent that works in the clinical laboratory at the Maternal and Child Hospital "Orama González de Durán”. Supported by the qualitative approach, the characteristics of the competency profile of clinical laboratory staff were contrasted according to the literature, which was supported by a descriptive-interpretative design. The results revealed that the staff must combine advanced technical knowledge with interpersonal skills, ethical commitment, and tolerance to pressure. Among the highlighted competencies are customer orientation, quality management, biosecurity and teamwork. It is concluded that these competencies are essential to provide quality care and respond to the demands of the clinical environment. The reflections reveal that clinical laboratory staff in a maternal and child hospital need to combine technical skills and interpersonal skills to ensure the quality of services and results and to provide the best possible care to patients and their families. To do this, it is essential to understand the roles and responsibilities of each member of the team and the importance of quality control to ensure success in health care. These skills are essential to provide quality care and respond to the demands of the clinical environment.
