Abstract
This study examines entrepreneurial competencies and their association with the perceived employability of university graduates from the perspective of 127 employers in northwestern Mexico. It presents an exploratory analysis of aggregate results from a quantitative, nonexperimental, cross-sectional study using convenience sampling. Problem solving and decision making (M = 4.52, SD = 0.61) and teamwork and entrepreneurial leadership (M = 4.41, SD = 0.58) received the highest required-level ratings. The unweighted mean difference between required and observed levels was 1.06 points; creativity and innovation showed the largest gap (1.34). The global observed-competency index was positively associated with perceived employability (r = .684, approximate 95% CI [.579, .767]). The findings inform proposals for applied learning and university–business collaboration. Nonprobability sampling, perception-based measurement, and limitations in data verification preclude causal inference, national generalization, or conclusions about the effectiveness of curricular interventions.
